The work
The problem: a story reads differently depending on who covers it, and a feed built for engagement hides that. Zaviye — the word means angle — pulls stories from 26 languages, anchored in Persian, Kurdish, Arabic, Turkish, Hebrew, and English.
The system: each story is clustered across outlets — who covered it, who didn't, and where the silence itself is the story. A weekly synthesis draws it across its full topology of coverage, instead of another feed optimized for engagement.
How it runs: built on Supabase Cloud with PostHog instrumentation and a Telegram bot for breaking alerts. Live at zaviye.news.
